Bolzano takes the lead in the standings

HCB Südtirol Alperia knocked EC Red Bull Salzburg off the top of the table in the top clash of the win2day ICE Hockey League. After both Salzburg and Bolzano suffered their first defeat of the season last Sunday, it came to a direct duel for the top of the table on Friday. In this one, the South Tyroleans set the course for success within 30 seconds in the first period, in which the Foxes scored a brace. First Angelo Miceli scored his first goal of the season in powerplay, before newcomer Daniel Mantenuto added another moments later. Salzburg managed to get a goal back in the second period, but it was not enough for a turnaround of the reigning champions. Bolzano finally prevailed 5:2 in a rough game and is now on top of the table.

Black Wings take over lurking position on leading duo

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz may have finally put last season behind them. After a 2-1 win against HC Pustertal, the Upper Austrians have arrived in the top-3 of the win2day ICE Hockey League. Initially, the two goalies did not allow anything in this encounter. For two thirds, the fans in Linz had nothing to cheer about. In the final period the scoring was opened by the guests from South Tyrol. However, the Black Wings did not bury their heads in the sand and turned the match around with goals from Marc-Andre Dorion and Stefan Gaffal. After the victory of the Upper Austrians, the gap to the leading duo is now only one point.

Vienna turns game against Villach on Rotter comeback

The spusu Vienna Capitals celebrate their third win of the season. Against ED iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, the Viennese turned around a two-goal deficit and took three points. However, the Villach team, which was weakened by replacements, initially took the lead twice - after their CHL defeat on Tuesday. Then it was comebacker Rafael Rotter, who after serving his suspension and his "guest appearance" in Linz last season, provided the equalizer in his first game back in Vienna. Villach lost control of the match as a result of this equalizer. This was followed by a game-time disciplinary penalty for Andrew Desjardins. In the ensuing overtime, the Caps managed to score the winning goal through Maxwell Zimmer.

Sharks offense bites again after two losses

HC TIWAG Innsbruck started as the surprise team in the new win2day ICE Hockey League season but was then slowed down a bit by two defeats last weekend. Against league newcomer Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, however, the Sharks offense bit again. The yellow-reds made it anything but easy for the Innsbruckers, though. Although the Sharks took a 2-0 lead in the first just over five minutes, before Asiago equalized with a double strike. Innsbruck restored the two-goal advantage two more times, but Asiago refused to be shaken off and equalized until the 39th minute - 5:5. In the final period, Adam Helewka provided the lead and the fourth win in the sixth game with his third goal of the evening.

Graz99ers bend runner-up in overtime

The Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated a 2-1 overtime win as guests in the infront of a loud crowd of Székesfehérvár. For the Styrians this was the third win of the season in the seventh game. After a goalless first period, Michael Schiechl scored the opening goal in the middle period. Subsequently, the Graz99ers could rely on Christian Engstrand and had the three points almost safely in their hands. Less than a minute before the supposed end, Patrick Newell gave the fans in Székesfehérvár an overtime. Zintis Zusevics scored the game-winner for Graz, which climbed to ninth place in the table.

Ljubljana close gap to top six

League newcomer BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg could not continue its points streak in Feldkirch. HK SZ Olimpija left the Vorarlbergers empty-handed for the first time in their home arena. The Slovenians, meanwhile, recorded their fourth win in the sixth game and closed the gap to the top-6 with an unchallenged victory on Friday.
