Bolzano puts more power on the offensive end | Kevin Schmidt returns

With acquiring Colton Hargrove, the HCB Südtirol Alperia put more power on the offensive end. The 27-year-old American forward heads into his first season overseas, after he played four years in the American Hockey League. Further, Kevin Schmidt returned to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga and signed a two-year deal with EC Panaceo VSV. The eagles expanded the coaching staff too.

The 27-year-old Colton Hargrove is seemed to be a “talented power forward with huge skating skills” according to HCB Südtirol Alperias press release. With his resounding one time he should have a huge impact on Bolzano’s powerplay and can be either used as a forward or center. 

After he was drafted by the Boston Bruins back in 2012, he played for the Western Michigan University in NCAA. Later he moved to the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League for three more seasons and played one year for the Texas Stars (18/19). Overall, he had 116 points (53G | 64A) during the past four seasons in the American Hockey League. 

“Being in a new country for seven or eight months will be a huge challenge for me”, Hargrove said. “But I am very happy to get the chance gaining a new experience and I am looking forward to my new teammates to reach our goals together.”

Kevin Schmidt returns to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga
Kevin Schmidt returned to the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga and signed a two-year deal with EC Panaceo VSV. After he was part of the Dornbirn Bulldogs back in 2016-17, he spent the past two years with the Iserloh Roosters in DEL. Overall, the 33-year-old defender, who played at Hamburg Freezers for five seasons, showed up 397 times in Germans first division, collecting 119 points (31G | 88A). During his first campaign in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga he posted 41 points (7G | 34A). “Kevin Schmidt will give our team big experience because of his keen eye. We got what we searched for: a player for the pp, who can lead the game as well”, knows head coach Jyrki Aho. 
 
The EC Panaceo VSV expanded coaching staff
With Sakari Lindfors and Manuel Skacal the EC Panaceo VSV expanded its coaching staff. While the 53-year-old Finn, who is coaching since 2002, will be Jyrki Aho’s assistant coach, Manuel Skacal will become eagle’s new goalie coach.
