Mike Halmo opened the derby already after 31 seconds, finishing strong for 1-0. The Canadian then also added the second goal of the game (13./PP1) - Bolzano dominated. Christian Thomas with his eighth goal of the season and Matt Frattin's brace (28. and 40.) ensured the preliminary decision. The leader thus also won the second meeting with its South Tyrolean rival, which suffered another defeat after two clear victories.
Graz cheers first home win
In the sixth home game of the season, the Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated their first win, as the Styrians won 4-2 against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV after a turbulent final frame and thus increased their advantage over eleventh-placed HC Pustertal Wölfe. Graz had to tremble for the victory, however, Anthony Luciani's VSV premiere goal (49.) and Chris Collins' top-shelf finish on the powerplay evened the 2-0 advantage - but practically in return Victor Granholm (54.) restored the lead of the tenth ranked side and provided the game-winner.
Linz, Innsbruck and Vienna back on winning ways
With the Steinbach Black Wings Linz, the HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie and the spusu Vienna Capitals a trio returned to the winning ways. After two defeats in a row, the Upper Austrians celebrated a 6-3 home victory over Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. Brian Lebler and Michael Haga, who scored his first goal between the legs, each scored twice. Nick Saracino scored a brace for the visitors, which used two of their three power plays successfully. Linz moved back up to second place in the standings with its ninth win of the season.
The Tyroleans drew a line under their three losses in a row, winning the West-Derby against the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg, with the "Sharks" winning 3-2 on the road. For the first time this season, Innsbruck won a game with only three goals scored. The decision was made on the power play, which Martin Ulmer (48./PP1) successfully completed.
The Viennese immediately corrected their recent shootout defeat (1-2 vs. AVS), winning 4-3 at HK SZ Olimpija. Thus, the two-time champions also scored in their seventh consecutive game, remaining in fourth position in standings. The "Caps" benefited from Max Zimmer's scoring qualities: The forward was responsible for three of the four goals, scoring also in his seventh consecutive game. Vienna's fourth goal was scored by Radek Prokes, who netted for his new employer for the first time.
