Bolzano sticks to the top teams

On Sunday HCB Südtirol Alperia opened the 28th round of Erste Bank Eishockey Liga with a 7:2 victory against Moser Medical Graz99ers. After beating the Austrian side for the third time this season, Bolzano still sticks to the top-teams in standings. The Styrian’s suffered their fifth consecutive loss against the reigning champion and lost their fourth road game in a row too. On Tuesday the remaining games of 28th round are scheduled.

After HCB Südtirol Alperia was winning the first two season meetings, the Italians had the better of the play early in the game. Brett Findlay, who scored in the first two meetings with the Moser Medical Graz99ers too, gave the reigning champion an early lead. Graz increased their chances but could not tie the game in first. Ivan Deluca doubled the lead for the hosts after not even three minutes played in the second and Daniel Catenacci made it more comfortable while scoring on a powerplay occasion. Soon after opening the third frame, Matt Garbowsky got his team on the scoreboard for the first time. Despite Graz was predominating in the following minutes, three more goals of Bolzano got them on winning ways and made the game safe on an early stage. Matt Catio scored one more for the guests while Catenacci rounded off the score about one second to go.
