The first game at this year's Alperia Cup – the previous four editions between 2016 and 2019 were all won by HCB – took place at the Intercable Arena in Brunico, with emotions even before the face-off in Armin Helfer’s retirement night. The game then started almost perfectly for the home ide: after a deflection following an Archambault shot and a goal by Andergassen, the "Wolves" were 2-0 ahead after seven minutes. Daniel Frank's follow-up goal (11.) was answered by DeLuca just 19 seconds later - and helped the home team restore the two-goal lead. Kasslatter, however, halved the deficit again from the point of view of the "Foxes" only a little later.

In the middle frame, the two-time ICE champion from Bolzano started the turnaround: A deflection by Alberga (29.) on the power play allowed HCB to equalize, before Frigo scored shortly before the buzzer and backhanded the visitors into the lead for the first time. The Bolzano team defended this lead in the final period.
