The Alps Hockey League starts in an intense phase between Christmas and the new year. Nine games are schedule for Thursday with the top games between the third ranked HC Pustertal and the fourth ranked EHC Lustenau. Pustertal took a couple of team decisions over Christmas.

The HDD SIC Acroni Jesenice hosts the EC „Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel on the 26th December. The Adler are currently on a winning streak of three games. Jesenice celebrated a success against Vienna after the clear derby defeat. The first duel was a tough battle with the better end in overtime for Kitzbühel. In the last three duels the home team booked the win.

With the Rittner Buam they are having another tough challenge. The Buam won nine of their past ten games, the Falcons are having eight of ten. Fassa never won a duel against the Buam. Ritten celebrated 13 wins in AHL history in this duel.

The EC KAC II is currently ranked on the 16th place and lost ten out of the past eleven games. The first duel of the season was decided by Feldkirch. In the last three duels of these two teams - including the past season – the road team celebrated wins.

The HC Pustertal is traveling to the EHC Lustenau. For Pustertal it could be a tough situation, as they had some changes in the team over Christmas. The Wolfes released Coach Petri Mattila, the try out of Alessio Piroso ended without extensionand Markus Ganders will not be part of the team anymore. With Lustenau a very tough opponent is waiting. The two teams are neighbors in standings separated by five points, Lustenau won nine of the past ten games and is still hungry.

The Wipptal Sterzing Broncos are facing the Vienna Capitals Silver in the first game after Christmas. Just before Christmas the Broncos ended the winning streak of Fassa. Bregenzerwald is only ranked on the 15th place but won the past three games in AHL. The Juniors ended their five games winning streak before Christmas, losing against Feldkirch. The first duel of this season was a big 15:1 win for Salzburg

S.G. Cortina Hafro is hosting the leader of the league on 26th of December. Cortina aims to find the way into the top-6 but Ljubljana is a tough challenge. In cortina wins and defeats are alternating the past four games. Ljubljana won the past three games in AHL or seven out of their past eight games. The first battle of the season was a tough one. Cortina won in penalty shootout out after trailing 0:2 in the first period. This was the first win of Cortina against Ljubljana in Alps Hockey League.
