Bozen and Zagreb celebrated their first wins in the Intermediate Round

KHL Medvescak Zagreb celebrated their first Pick Round win in Innsbruck. Besides the Vienna Capitals and EC Red Bull Salzburg earned three points in the Pick Round. HCB Südtirol Alperia collected their first three points in the Qualification Round in Graz on Thursday. Dornbirn Bulldogs and EC VSV were successful in the Qualification Round as well.

Dornbirn Bulldogs defended place 1 in the Qualification Round
Brett Palin gave Fehervar AV19 an early lead in Dornbirn (6.). The Bulldogs responded late in the first period: Chris D’Alvise with a big shot (18.) and Sean McMonagle (19.) with a backhand shot turned the game within just ten seconds. The Hungarians stayed unimpressed. Youngster Csanad Erdely netted the 2:2 just 99 seconds later. The fans in Dornbirn saw an intense game, in which the guests took the lead again in minute 30: Csanad Erdely was free in the slot and he easily scored the 3:2. The Devils defended their lead until the break, even when playing four minutes shorthanded. The Austrians found a way to win the game in period 3: Michael Caruso equalized the game with a shot from the blue line in minute 45 - 3:3. The next goal should decide this game: While Daniel Kogler failed to score from a break-way in a shorthanded situation, Brodie Reid (52.) netted the Game Winner for DEC.
 
Villach won eagles-clash
Istvan Sofrons Power Play goal gave Villach an early lead. Ryan Glenn added the 2:0 just 198 seconds later. EC VSV had a perfect start into period 2 as well: Jordan Hickmott finished a diagonal-pass from Andrew Sarauer after just 150 seconds. The Austrians controlled the game the rest of the period. Znojmo applied pressure on Villach in period 3. The Czechs were finally rewarded with their first goal: Plihal netted the 1:3 in a Power Play. The hosts responded quickly, Istvan Sofron netted the 4:1 just 30 seconds later. Znojmo did not give up. Tejnor scored the final 4:2 with a Blueliner.
 
Foxes celebrated Shut Out win in Graz
HCB Südtirol Alperia took the first chance in Graz and scored: Matias Sointu finished a rebound after a shot from the right side from Alexander Petan. The Italians were the chief on the ice now. Finally Austin Smith scored near the right post - 2:0. In period 2 a Powerplay goal by the 99ers wasn‘t allowed by the referees. On the other side Angelo Micelli gave his team a 3:0-lead, he deflected the puck after a shot from Tomassoni. The Styrians adjusted better to the game now, but they just hit the post once. Bozen controlled the game in period 3. DeSousa even netted the 4:0 into the empy net.
 
Red Bulls won high-scoring game against Linz 9:5
In Salzburg one goal after the other followed! The Red Bulls were ahead 5:2 already in minute 26. The Black Wings responded with two goals from Patrick Spannring. Then the Mozart Citizens applied pressure on the guests again and were rewarded with two goals from Herburger and Duncan. In the end the Red Bulls earned a clear 9:5-home-win over the Black Wings. Janny, who filled in for Ouzas after 14 minutes, prevented a higher defeat.
 
Zagreb celebrated first Pick Round win in Innsbruck
Koskiranta gave KHL Medvescak Zagreb an early lead in Innsbruck. The Croatians stayed dangerous, but missed to add the 2:0. The goal was surprisingly scored by the Sharks: Andrew Yogan put the puck in after a great pass from Morten Poulsen (15.). The Austrians got an extra boost, but John Lammers, Lubomir Stach and Ondrej Sedivy could not take the given chances. Just 100 seconds into the second period the Croatians netted an early goal again: Innsbruck‘s defenseman Florian Pedevilla deflected the puck after a shot from Mark Cepon into the own net. The Bears stayed dangerous, but they failed to extend their lead, while playing 5-on-3. But then one goal after the other followed: First Sondre Olden deflected a puck for the 3:1 (29.). Innsbruck responded with the next attack. Another few minutes later Tyler Morley scored the 4:2 for Medvescak near the right post. The next goal was  scored again by the Tyroleans: John Lammers beat goalie Carr through the legs – 3:4. In the last 20 minutes Carr prevented another goal by the Sharks. Koudelka even added the 5:3 into the empty net in the final minute.
 
Caps beat Klagenfurt
Peter Schneiders Power Play goal gave the Vienna Capitals a 1:0-lead in minute 16. After the re-start JP Lamoureux prevented the shots by Manuel Geier  (2x) and Julian Talbot from the slot. The Champion scored the goal: Peter Schneider netted the 2:0 after a quick counter (24.). The Capitals extended their lead in a Powerplay: Kevin Kapstadt deflected the puck unluckyly into the own net after a shot from Ryan McKiernan (32.) - 3:0. The Red Jackets tried to come back in the last period, but JP Lamoureux allowed no goal. The Caps on the other side added the 4:0 in another Power Play, Riley Holzapfel scored from a short distance. In the end the Caps won 4:1.
