Bozen, Salzburg and Vienna go Europe

The Champions Hockey League group stage draw has been done in Kopenhagen on Wednesday. HCB Südtirol Alperia, EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Vienna Capitals will be in fights with top-teams from Europe in their groups.

HCB Südtirol Alperia will meet with Swedish Vice-Champion Skelleftea AIK, Finish Liiga-club IFK Helsinki and Polish Champion GKS Tychy in group C.
 
In Group A , the Vienna Capitals will be in a fight for two Playoff-spots with Swiss Champion ZSC Lions Zürich coached by their former Head Coach Serge Aubin and Assistant Coach Craig Streu, with Danish Champion Aalborg Pirates and the Frölunda Indians, who have already won the Champions Hockey League twice (2016 and 2017) and have earned the title in Sweden four times so far.
 
EC Red Bull Salzburg will have to travel to Sweden, Switzerland and Wales during the Champions Hockey League group stage 2018/19. The Mozart Citizens will play against Swedish Champion and CHL-finalist Växjö Läkers, Swiss NLA-club SC Bern and Elite Ice Hockey League Champion Cardiff Lakers in group G.
 
The Group Stage of the 2018/19 season starts on August 30th and finishes on October 17th. Each team plays a total of six games – one home and one away against the other three teams in its group. The first- and second-placed teams in each group then advance to the Playoff Stage.
