Sebastián Šmída gained experience at a young age both with his home club HK Skalica and in Czech youth teams. Among other things, he took part in the U18 World Cup with Slovakia. After a season in Finland with KooKoo's U20 team, Šmída made his first senior hockey appearances in his home country. In addition to 20 Extraliga games, the 22-year-old recorded 61 appearances (32 goals, 26 assists) in the second Slovakian league. This season, he recorded two goals and one assist in four games for Skalica. Now the former youth international is moving to the iClinic Bratislava Capitals, for whom he will already make his debut in today's away game against bet-at-home ICE Hockey League leaders HCB Südtirol Alperia.

"We wanted to sign Sebastián before the season, but unfortunately an injury thwarted our plans. Besides a good technique, he also has skating qualities. With this signing, we want to continue our path and give young talents a chance in the strong bet-at-home ICE Hockey League," reports Bratislava manager Dušan Pašek.
