The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan took the lead in an entertaining matchup, as James Livingston scored in the sixth minute. However, just three minutes later, the hosts had the perfect response, equalizing through Philip Metzler. The 1–1 score held until the 29th minute, when ECB top scorer Roberts Lipsbergs put his team ahead with a superb power-play goal – the Latvian’s ninth of the season. Shortly before the end of the second period, Tobias Metzler-Wagner extended the lead to 3–1. In the final period, Sterzing threw everything forward, but Bregenzerwald goaltender Lorenz Widhalm stood tall and could not be beaten. In the end, the goalie stopped 45 shots to secure another important win for his team.
