Bregenzerwald continues winning streak | Zell and Cortina win national championships

EC Bregenzerwald celebrated a 2-1 win against the leader in Qualification Round B in the only game of the Alps Hockey League on Saturday and thus remains undefeated in the intermediate round.

In the national AHL championships, the EK Zeller Eisbären and the S.G. Cortina Hafro grabbed the titles. In the process, the Zeller Eisbären turned around a 0:3 deficit from the first final game. Cortina won its second Scudetto against the Rittner Buam. HC Merano/o captured third place.

Bregenzerwald close in on Kitzbühel in Quali Round B

EC Bregenzerwald remains the only unbeaten team in Qualification Round B. The Vorarlberg side beat EC die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 2-1 and, after their fifth win in a row, are now just one point behind leader Kitzbühel. The Eagles, who started the intermediate round with the maximum number of bonus points, had to admit defeat for the second time. In the top duel against Bregenzerwald, the hosts initially still took the lead. However, a brace from Roberts Lipsbergs then ensured the turnaround.

Zeller Eisbären are Austrian AHL champions

The EK Zeller Eisbären defeated the Red Bull Hockey Juniors 4-0 after overtime in the second final game of the Austrian AHL Championship. After the Juniors won the first game 3-0 and thus started with a big cushion into game two, the Polar Bears turned the final on Saturday. After 40 scoreless minutes, Frederik Widen suddenly brought his team within striking distance with a brace. With 23 seconds remaining, Tomi Wilenius made it 3-0 and sent the game into overtime. There Fabio Artner scored the goal for the Austrian AHL title. EKZ goalie Max Zimmermann shone with a shutout in the title win.

Cortina wins 17th Italian title

S.G. Cortina Hafro beat the Rittner Buam SkyAlps 2:1 in the final of the Italian championships. For Cortina this is already the 17th Scudetto. After an even first period that ended 1-1, Michael Zanatta provided the game-winning goal. In the game for the third place HC Meran/o celebrated a 5:3 victory over the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers.
