Broncos and KAC II on the top | Ritten celebrates goal festival

On this day the 1,000th game of regular season in history of Alps Hockey League was played. The Wipptal Broncos Sterzing and the KAC II will spend the next two days on the top of the league. The Broncos celebrated a 3:2 win against Lustenau and the KAC II managed to turn the game against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors around. First follower of the top-duo are the Rittner Buam after a 10:5 goal festival win against Asiago Hockey.

Sterzing Broncos on the top of the standings
After the win of the first weekend against the Vienna Capitals Sivler, the Wipptal Sterzing Broncos also captured three points against EHC Lustenau. The Broncos started efficiently in the game against Lustenau scoring two goals in the first six minutes. But Lustenau managed to narrow the gap still in the first. Both teams scored one more goals but Lustenau didn’t manage to tie again. The Broncos celebrated a 3:2 win and are on the top of the league. After Lustenau gave the game away last week, the Austrians still have only one point after two games.

KAC with the turnaround in Salzburg
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors started with a 15-games winning streak in regular season games into the Austrian-Derby against the KAC 2. At the beginning of the game it seemed that the Juniors manages to prolong this streak. With a lot of pressure Harnisch and Lindner brought the 2:0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Then the KAC came back very strong. Salzburg tied one more time, but Szabad scored the game winner. After two games the KAC 2 is still perfect and took the lead in the standings together with the Broncos.

Ritten books second win in second game
After the turnaround last week, the Rittner Buam started strong against the Migross Supermercati Asiago. Alexander Frei started with a double strike. After 20 minutes the Buam already had a 3:0 lead. In the second period a real goal festival started – the teams scored seven goals, two of Ritten and five of Asiago causing the tie after 40 minutes. In the final period the Buam started a firework in offense. Five more goals brought the result of 10:5 Alex Frei scored three goals in total. Asiago never received more than seven goals in Alps Hockey League till that day. 15 goals in one single game are the second most goals in Alps Hockey League history.
