The duel for fifth place did not decide direct playoff qualification on Tuesday. A shootout victory for the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan at Cortina was the only result that postponed the decision. The home side got off to a perfect start, with Marco Sanna deflecting the puck into the net after just one minute. However, the team from Sterzing had a quick response. Connor Sanvido equalised in the fourth minute, before Adam Capannelli turned the game in the visitors' favour shortly afterwards. The score remained 1:2 until late in the second period, when Riccardo Lacedelli equalised. In an evenly-matched game, the Broncos were unable to capitalise on a four-minute power play spell in the third period and the game went into overtime. After a goalless five minutes, the shootout had to decide, with Capannelli and Sanvido scoring for the South Tyroleans. The team from Sterzing thus defended fifth place, but the decision on direct play-off qualification will follow on Wednesday: Cortina can still improve to fifth place with a win at EC Bregenzerwald.

The Rittner Buam SkyAlps and Red Bull Hockey Juniors celebrated clear home victories on Tuesday. The reigning AHL champions defeated Celje 6:0, with Simon Kostner opening the scoring in the tenth minute with his first of three goals. Goalie Colin Furlong recorded his second shutout of the season. The South Tyroleans thus also won their fifth head-to-head clash and knocked Jesenice out of second place.

The defeat of Celje and a 6:1 home win over Meran allowed the Red Bull Hockey Juniors to move up to tenth place. Although the South Tyroleans took the lead after just 36 seconds through Oscar Gustafsson, the superior hosts turned the game in their favour in the middle period. The Juniors had six players on the scoresheet, with Constantin Humer scoring the final goal in the 57th minute.
