Bruneck won Game 1 of the Alps Hockey League final for 3:0 at the end of a convincing match. The home team did not suffer from the tiredness of the semifinals that ended only Tuesday against Jesenice. Ljubljana was a bit nervous with six penalties and not very incisive in attack. But in less than 24 hours the two teams will back on the rink: Friday immediately will play Gace 2 and always in Bruneck.
March, Laner and Erlacher were absent for the hosts. The first shot of the final of the AHL was by Grogor Koblar with a diagonal not too strong. Bruneck answered immediately with a dangerous action of Tommaso Traversa who didn't shoot at the right moment in front of the slot and of a wrap-around of Alex De Lorenzo Meo. Then there was a shot by Piroso that hit the outer of crossbar. The home team seemed to have more offensive push also for the first penalty of the match inflicted to Cepon. In this case Max Oberrauch has a good chance.
In second period, the visiting team often began to attack with a lot of continuity and for a few minutes remained permanently around Furlong. The impression was that the Green Dragons have changed gear compared to the first half. The Slovenian offensive plot was interrupted when Zorko entered in the bench punished. Not even the time to win the faceoff and there was the first goal of the Wolves with Markus Gander with a shot from the blue line and in the corner. The South Tyrolean goal moved the match even more. In the middle of thegame there were a series of shots and actions from one side of the track and the other with the puck that travelleved fast. To interrupt this phase the third penalty of the match with Bruneck who immediately tried the scheme of the first goal but Gander did not find the same luck. But the appointment with the goal was only postponed. The Wolves powerplay worked perfectly. One second after the end of the Slovenian penalty, Max Oberrauch achieved the 2:0 with a central shot. Bruneck then controlled until the end of the second half.
In the third period immediately the Wolves was dangerous with the puck that stopped almost on the goal line after passing Zan Us. Ljubljana answered with two big shots from the distance but Furlong was there. Then, as expected, the Slovenes looked for everything and everything. Once again a penalty (the second one for too many men on the ice) breaked the plot of the Green Dragons. And also few minutes the Balkans are stopped in their moment of pressure with another penalty that allowed the home team to better manage the delicate final moments. Then Markus Gander scored an empty net goal in the final 3:0 while Mark Sever was expelled before the third whistle. Bruneck won by 3:0 as they started as best could this series of AHL finals.
