Bulldogs after huge win on the top of the standings

The Dornbirn Bulldogs celebrated a huge 8:1 success over KHL Medvescak Zagreb and captured the top position in the league. Brodie Reid and Joel Broda scored twice. Fehervar AV19 grinded out an overtime-win against HC TWK Innsbruck. Anze Kuralt scored the gamewinner.

KHL Medvesczak Zagreb – Dornbirn Bulldogs 1:8
A historic first game was played in thr Sisak Zibel Ice Hall as Medvescak hosted the Dornbirn Bulldogs. The visitors scored first after a counter attack, Macierzynski was able to put the puck in the back of the net after only 5 minutes of play. In the 12th minute it was already 2:0 when Cip scored from the left. The home coach Aaron Fox substituted goalies after the goal, young Vilim Rosandic stepped in for Mathieu Corbeil.

Midway through the second period the Bears had some promising chances on the powerplay, but the Bulldogs were able to capitalize shorthanded when Parks scored on a breakaway. Broda came back from the penalty box and broke away for a huge 4-goal lead only 29 seconds later.

In the third period the Bulldogs added four more goals - Broda scored his second of the night, Dupont added another one and Reid scored two for a total of 8 goals. Yann Sauve was the sole scorer for the home team scoring the consolation goal midway through the third period.

Fehervar AV19 – HC TWK Innsbruck 5:4 OT 
The started better for Fehervar as Kuralt threatened then for the next five minutes, Fehervar had the puck more. Carruth had not much to do until the 6th minute when Pedevilla shot from close but the home goalie saved. In the middle of the period, Koger passed to Phillips but Ross fouled and during the delayed penalty Koger put the puck in the net. After the goal, Fehervar had another powerplay, but without success. In the upcoming minutes, Fehervar had more chances, Clark had the only big chance on the other end. The period ended four on four as both Koskiranta and Bär got a penalty. One minute before the buzzer, Stipsicz passed to Sofron who didn’t miss.
 
The second period started with a home powerplay but other than Hari’s chance, Fehervar had no opportunity five on four. Playing full strength, Innsbruck scored from the first attack, Stach’s far shot went through Carruth’s legs. The guests pushed harder after the goal but then Fehervar started to play more offensive again and Krisztian Szabo put his team up again to two goals after Sofron’s pass. The remaining time of the period went on better for the Austrians as first Tyler Spurgeon put a rebound in the net on a powerplay, then after Koger’s penalty Yogan tied the game. 
 
The third period started with penalties on both sides but the special units remained ineffective. Innsbruck seemed to be the better team on ice as they had chance after chance playing full strength, too. For the last 5 minutes, they pushed even harder, Carruth had to make big saves in order to keep his team in the game. Boivin was undisciplined two minutes before the buzzer and is paid off for the home team and Sofron shot in the net. Rob Pallin used his timeout and last night’s events happened again to Fehérvár, this time 25 seconds before the end of the game as Yogan tied the game. In the overtime, Kuralt decided for the home team just in 26 seconds.
