The Bears got off to a perfect start when Armstrong scored on the rebound in the 2nd minute. Aviani tried to shoot following a wrap around and Armstrong picked up the ricochet in the slot. Even though the home team were better overall the visitors rebounded in the 14th minute following a tough penalty kill - Geiger led the offense, shot from the slot and the picked a rebound to place a lob over Rosandic and level the score. The Foxes came out to attack in the second period but couldn't capitalize. The biggest opportunity for the Bears was in the 36th when Samuels Thomas had the puck in the slot 2-on-1, but Smith made two tough saves to keep the score even. Medvescak couldn't score on a 5-on-3 at the end of the second period and took over 30 seconds of the powerplay into the third. The Bears couldn't capitalize on the powerplay to start the period but Mauldin managed to break the tie on a powerplay midway  through the third period, after a shot from the slot surprised everyone and found the back of the net. That was enough for the win and their only second win at home.

Fehervar got a powerplay opportunity already in the first minute, but they weren’t successful, and Koger also had to sit in the penalty box. Soon later Koger fouled again and the guests scored five on four, just 6 seconds before Fehervar playing full strength, Gazley shot from the middle and he didn’t miss. Hari missed a breakaway but Duncan was more successful on the other end, doubling the lead for Salzburg. The difference was not two for long, though, Sarauer scored after a nice move. Early in the second Sarauer hit the crossbar. The middle of the period was better for Fehervar, but neither Erdely, Sofron nor Sille could equalize. Salzburg did not miss their five-on-four opportunity after Softon’s penalty, Duncan shot from the left in the net, and just a minute later Baltram put the puck in the net, and the difference was already three goals. The beginning of the third period Fehervar cut the difference to one within a minute, first Sarauer put Hari’s rebound in the net, then Sille passed to Erdely on the far side and he didn’t miss. From the 4th minute of the period, powerplays and shorthanded plays were the deciding factor of the game, there was rarely a time when the penalty boxes were empty. Salzburg played more five on four and they scored three more goals: Duncan was successful and earned a hattrick, then Harris put the puck in the net through Carruth’s pads and finally Raffl was successful. Erdely and Koskiranta went two on one shorthanded and the puck went in the net from an away player, modifying the score to 4-7.
