After the Capitals were beaten 1:5 in Vorarlberg on Friday - their fifth defeat in a row - the injury-hit Vienna team got off to a better start in Innsbruck on Saturday. The Viennese dominated the first period and took the lead in the ninth minute: Armin Preiser was responsible for the goal, capitalising on an unfortunate defensive action by the home side and scoring his first goal of the season. The hosts improved in the middle period, but the Sharks were still too harmless in offence. It was a different story for the Viennese with Franklin increasing the lead to 0:2 with a shot into the far corner. In the third period, the visitors decided the game within 41 seconds: first Kromp deflected a Heinrich shot decisively, then Franklin scored with his backhand into the far corner. Two quick goals from Innsbruck briefly made things tense again, but an empty netter from Krieger made the final score 2:5. While the Caps improve to eighth place, the Tyroleans remain in eleventh.
