Especially since the 2017/18 season, there has been a sharp increase in the scoring numbers of the US American. Angeli had his best seasons in terms of points with the Kansas City Mavericks between 2020 and 2022, scoring 116 points (46G / 70A) in 117 games for the Mavericks. In April 2022, the Florida Everblades signed the man from Colorado for the ECHL playoffs. With the Everblades Angeli managed to win the Kelly Cup for the first time. The US-American started the current season with the Belfast Giants in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. Angeli also took part in the Champions Hockey League with the current runner-up.

Now the 32-year-old strengthens the offense of the spusu Vienna Capitals: "I am really looking forward to my new task with the Capitals. I have heard only good things about the Capitals organization in the past. The city of Vienna also speaks for itself, it's a great place to play hockey. I'm a big, powerful forward who has a good shot and can create plays. Hopefully I can help the team with my size and speed."

"Darik has a lot of energy and is an eager worker, he has offensive skills and is a great player. He will be an asset to our offense while bringing a physical component to our game. He can put his stamp on the game with his height and can also cover the puck well. Taking the puck from a big player who also knows how to play the game is no easy task. A player like Darik will be on the ice for us in any situation," said Caps Head Coach Dave Barr.
