The spusu Vienna Capitals won finals game #3 3:2 against EC-KAC at home on Thursday and got a 2:1-lead in the best of seven series. The Capitals had the better start into the match: Patrick Peter netted the 1:0 with his second chance within just a few seconds with a backhand shot after just 183 seconds. Klagenfurt had a quick answer: The Caps were on a Power Play, but the guests scored: After a perfect pass from Matthew Neal, Thomas Koch started a solo-attack and he beat goalie JP Lamoureux with a perfect backhand shot under the crossbar - 1:1. Nick Petersen missed a Penalty Shot, but, EC-KAC managed to score the 2:1 on a Power Play just moments later. The „Red Jackets“ made much pressure. After top-chances from Thomas Koch and Nick Petersen, Matthew Neal potted the 2:1 from near the right post in minute 14. And the scoring continued on the other side in the second Power Play for Vienna (16.): Christopher DeSousa deflected a shot from Marc Andre Dorion in minute 16 and tied the game at 2:2.The next minutes belong to the Caps, who had top-chances from Chris DeSousa and Sondre Olden (post) in the final minutes prior the break.
In minute 29, Vienna re-took the lead. Emilio Romig brought the puck infront of the net and Clemens Unterweger deflected the puck into the own net. The Red Jackets took some penalties then, but the Caps could not extend their lead even in a 5-on-3 Power Play for 65 seconds. In the final minutes of period 2, Klagenfurt got stronger, but could not beat goalie JP Lamoureux. The Caps tried to decide the match after the re-start. Kelsey Tessier, Riley Holzapfel (3x, among other chances, he hit the post in minute 48.), Andreas Nödl or Benjamin Nissner had good chances in the first minutes. Then, the Caps controlled the game. Klagenfurt’s first shoot on net was fired after 12 minutes in period 3. Martin Schumnig had a late chance for EC-KAC, but could not score too. The series will continue with game #4 in Klagenfurt on Saturday.
