Caps have to clear top position

The EC-KAC celebrated a 3:1 success against the Vienna Capitals and dropped the Vienna Capitals from the number one position. New leaders are the Black Wings Linz, who announced the comeback of Gerd Kragl today. In the battle of the last vacant playoff ticket, Fehervar AV19 captured the pole position after a shootout win against the Bulldogs.

KAC celebrates win against acting champ
Both teams started with high intensity. The first attack of the KAC was the first goal. Marco Brucker converted a rebound after 28 seconds. The answer of the Caps came immediately. Tomas Duba scored the equalizer. In the 13th minute Andrew Kozek recaptured the lead. In the final minute of the first period the red-jackets had the big chance for the 3:1 lead, but couldn’t convert. In the second period both teams played with high intensity. The goalies shined with excellent saves at this time. In the 31st minute Andrew Kozek increased the lead. After that, J.P. Lamoureux left the ice for the comebacker David Kickert, who made a good job in saving further shots. In the final period the KAC focused on their defensive work. The Caps tried to break the defense, but didn’t succeed anymore. The KAC celebrated a 3:1 success and captured the fourth place in the pick round.
 
Fehervar captures pole position in race for the last playoff ticket
The game started with a save from Carruth. Bence Sziranyi returned on ice in the qualification round, whereas Vidmar, Vincze, Bence Szabo and Daniel Szabo are injured. After Neubacher’s shot, the Fehervar goalie had to save again then, Reisz threatened. Fehervar got in the lead after a nice attack, Latendresse put the puck apparently in the net. The Hungarians started to play better, they had the puck and Dornbirn had only a few chances. Finally, one minute after their first goal, Music shot from the left side and doubled the lead. Connelly shot the puck to the stands but Fehervar missed the powerplay opportunity. Five on five, the young Hungarian line showed up but there was no other goal. For the remaining time, Koger and co. pushed harder but the score remained 2-0. 
After balanced first minutes, Dornbirn bounced back and had chance after chance. 5 minutes into the period, Erdely missed a breakaway, then LoVecchio had to sit in the penalty box yet the guests could not put the puck in the net. In the middle of the period Hari missed a chance, then Dornbirn scored two goals fast, first Reid scored, then Fraser used a blackout in the defense, Carruth saved his shot but Grabher Meier shot in the empty net. Manavian fouled before the goal, but the guests were not effective on the powerplay. Wolf was the next out for two minutes, and Fehervar played much better five on four, Latendresse shot in the upper left corner, putting his team in the lead again. It was not another minute without a goal: just one minute before the buzzer Luttinen passed to Music in front of the net who scored between Stroj’s pads. 

In the second minute of the third period, Syvester scored to make the difference only one goal. Stroy got a shot from Manavian to the throat, but the goalie could go on. Caruso and Erdely got a penalty in the upcoming minutes, four on four Dornbirn tied the game again, McMonagle scored a pass from Timmins. Fehervar pushed hard for the fifth goal but Antilla missed. The Hungarians missed another powerplay, then Stroj saved again, this time Koger’s shot. 2 minutes before the buzzer Fehervar got every chance to win the game in the regular time as Haberl and Caruso both fouled but the home team could not put enough pressure on the guests. 
 
In the overtime, Fehervar was the better team on ice, Luttinen missed a big chance, then, before the end, Uotila got a penalty but Dornbirn did not play well on powerplay. In the penalty shootout, McMonagle and Fraser scored, and on Fehervar’s side Latendresse and Hári did not miss. After the three penalty shots, youngster Krisztian Szabo scored but McMonagle missed, and Fehervar won the game.
