In front of more than 440 spectators reigning champion HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana had the better of the play in the first, more than the double of chances on the offensive end, but the VEU Feldkirch scored. Philipp Koczera got his colors on the scoreboard after nine minutes. Despite some more chances in the remaining first and the beginning of the second, the home team cruised past the VEU in the middle frame getting an early decision. Four straight goals sent the champion with a 4:1 lead into the final period. There the Austrian side pulled two back but were not able to tie the game, so Ljubljana could take the first season win, after two shutout loses in the opening games.
