Only 24 hours after a respective victorious opener, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Hydro Fehérvár AV19 faced each other in the first final remake of this season. Both teams started almost with the same line up – only goalie Olivier Roy switched in for the Hungarians. The first top chance belonged to the vice-champion, who knocked on the door with a shot from the bar already in the first minute of the game. The guests managed the opening goal too: Turnover Salzburg and Balint Magosi (11.) pulled away and put the puck between the pads and blocker of Atte Tolvanen. But right in return the equalizer was scored by Mario Huber (11.), whose shot was barely read by Roy.

In the middle frame, the Hungarians seemed to pay tribute to their initially high tempo, Salzburg visibly took command. Luca Auer - with his second ICE goal ever - put the "Red Bulls" in the lead in the 31st minute. A little later, Peter Schneider, the reigning Regular Season MVP, doubled the lead. In a shorthanded situation, he hammered the puck perfectly into the far cross corner. Salzburg controlled the game from then on, allowed little and scored the final goal through Ali Wukovits (51./PP1) on the power play.
