Champions Salzburg host league leaders Bolzano

League leaders HCB Südtirol Alperia travel to EC Red Bull Salzburg for the top game. The reigning champions won the first season meeting 3:2 away from home, with five of the last six encounters decided by just one goal difference. Austrian teams will also face international sides in the other three matches on Sunday.

Salzburg - Bolzano
EC Red Bull Salzburg recently celebrated a win in Vienna and moved back up to fifth place. HCB Südtirol Alperia won both games after the international break, with Bolzano beating Innsbruck 1-0 in over time on Friday to defend their lead in the table. Salzburg won 3:2 away from home in the first season meeting, and five of the last six duels have been decided by just one goal difference. Innsbruck - Fehérvár
HC TIWAG Innsbruck suffered their third defeat in a row against Bolzano (0:1 OT). Goalie Evan Buitenhuis gave his team a chance to win with 45 saves, but the league's weakest offence (only 32 goals) failed to score for the first time this season. Hydro Fehérvár is the first runner-up to leaders Bolzano, the Hungarians have won nine of their last ten games. On Friday, they beat Vorarlberg 5:2. With 21 points from nine games, they are also the second-best away team in the league. Fehérvár also have the best defence in the league.

Linz - Asiago
Steinbach Black Wings Linz prevailed 4:3 at KAC on Friday, winning their second game after the International Break. The Upper Austrians' last five games ended with a one-goal difference, with head coach Phil Lukas' team coming away victorious four times. Asiago, on the other hand, suffered their fourth defeat in a row with a 2:5 loss against Graz and slipped to penultimate place. The Italians showed defensive weaknesses in these four games and conceded 25 goals. Linz and Asiago are tied 1-1 in the head-to-head of the season.

Ljubljana - KAC
Olimpija Ljubljana return to league action after a two-week break. The Slovenians won their last two games before the international break and are currently the best home team in the win2day ICE Hockey League with 20 points from ten games. The EC-KAC slipped to seventh place as a result of the home defeat against Linz. Klagenfurt have gained at least one point nine times in a row against the Green Dragons, but lost their first season meeting in overtime in September.
