The EC Red Bull Salzburg will meet the Finnish representative Tappara Tampere, who is participating for the seventh time in a row, at the comeback in the competition. The club, founded in 1955, has won the Finnish championship 17 times - the last time in 2017. Salzburg will be competing in the CHL for the sixth time. The "Red Bulls" celebrated their greatest success in the 18/19 season when they reached the semi-finals.

The HCB Südtirol Alperia will meet the Swiss club EHC Biel-Bienne in its third appearance in the Champions Hockey League. In their last participation 18/19 the South Tyrolean reached the round of 16. The Swiss, who have two Austrians under contract with Fabio Hofer and Stefan Ulmer, are qualified for the second time. Last year they had to bow to the later winner Frölunda Indians by a very narrow loss in the quarter finals.

For the seventh time in a row, the spusu Vienna Capitals are also involved in the CHL. The traditional club HC Davos is waiting for the two-time winner of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in the round of 32. After a two-year break, the 31-time Swiss champion is back in the international competition - the semi-final entry in 2016 was Davos' greatest success so far.
