The spusu Vienna Capitals and the EC-KAC ended their CHL-campaigns of this season. The spusu Vienna Capitals bow out of the Champions Hockey League with a 5:2 home win against GKS Tychy (POL). The EC-KAC missed the last chance for a Playoff-qualification after losing also the second game against Biel-Bienne.

Caps take revenge on Tychy
After the 2:4 defeat against GKS Tychy (POL) past week and the related withdrawal of the Champions Hockey League, the spusu Vienna Capitals took revenge successfully and celebrated a positive end of this CHL-season. In the direct duel for the third place in group F the Caps took a 5:2 home-win. After a quick 2:0 lead tanks to goals of Patrick Peter and Nikolaus Hartl, the guests fought back to 2:3 till the end of the second period. Sondre Olden and Sascha Bauer brought the decision in the final period creating the result of 5:2.

KAC misses chance for Playoff-Qualification
The situation before the game was anything but easy for the EC-KAC. Only a win with at least five goals difference would have been the guaranteed ticket for the CHL-Playoffs. After balanced starting minutes the EHC Biel-Bienne took control and created a 3:0 lead till the 32nd minute. The second goals of the Swiss-Team was scored by Austrian export Peter Schneider. Before the end of the second period Nick Petersen took care of the first goal of the Carinthians. But Biel-Bienne recreated the three goals lead with the buzzer of the second period. Andrew Kozek brought new hope with a powerplay goal in the final period. But it was already too late for the comeback.
