On Wednesday, the EC Red Bull Salzburg need to win its round of 16 second leg to reach the top-8 in the Champions Hockey League. The Austrians have to overcome a 3-goal deficit at home against Rouen Dragons (FRA). The game will be broadcast live on ORF Sport+.

The round of 16 return game between Lukko Rauma and HC Bolzano, scheduled for Wednesday evening, has been cancelled as a precautionary measure set by Finnish authorities as a number of players of Lukko Rauma are unavailable due to the Covid-19 protocol.
According to the protocol, the CHL’s Covid-19 committee will consult and decide on the consequences. The CHL will inform on the outcome in due course.

In the first leg a week ago, EC Red Bull Salzburg suffered a 0:3 defeat at Rouen Dragons. Salzburg, which is currently third in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, was unlucky to concede at least two goals - and could not beat goalie Matija Pinteric. However, the "Red Bulls" have gained self-confidence for the return leg on home ice at the weekend: ICE leader Ljubljana was outclassed on the road with 7:2, Graz was defeated by a shutout. After eight players were absent on Sunday against the Styrians, the Red Bulls had Monday off to achieve the turnaround in the CHL round of 16 with fresh forces - and perhaps a few returnees. The French third-place team celebrated an 8:5 win over bottom-placed Briancon at the weekend. Salzburg reached round of 16 once in 18/19, advancing to the semifinals on that occasion.
