EC-KAC made a flying start to the new season, cruising to a 7-1 victory in Salzburg to become the first league leaders of the 2026/27 campaign. The Red Jackets scored twice in both the first and second periods in front of a sold-out Eisarena Salzburg. Salzburg initially pulled one back in the final period, but Klagenfurt responded with three more goals to complete an unexpectedly emphatic road victory.

Milano start ICE Hockey League adventure with a win
League newcomers Milano enjoyed an immediate taste of success, claiming a 3-1 victory in Innsbruck. In the 23rd minute, Blake McLaughlin wrote his name into the history books by scoring Milano’s first-ever ICE Hockey League goal. Innsbruck managed to equalise, but the visitors struck twice in the final 16 minutes to secure the victory.

Pustertal and Bolzano also victorious
It was a perfect opening night for the Italian teams, with Pustertal and Bolzano also celebrating victories. In a rematch of last season’s Final against Graz, Pustertal earned a 4-2 home win and gained a small measure of revenge for their 4-0 series defeat in the championship series. Tommy Purdeller scored twice, while Henry Bowlby and Cole Bardreau also found the net for the Wolves.

Bolzano also claimed a 3-2 home victory over Vienna. The Foxes took the lead three times, with new signing Nicolo Remolato scoring the decisive goal with three minutes remaining after he had already opened the scoring earlier in the game.

Fehérvár, Ljubljana and VSV successful
Fehérvár also made a winning start, defeating Linz 4-3 in overtime. New signing Benjamin Zloty scored the game-winning goal. The second Hungarian team, however, suffered defeat, as Budapest fell 5-3 at home to Ljubljana.

Villach also celebrated a road victory, defeating the Pioneers Vorarlberg 2-1. On the night of John Hughes’ 1,000th league appearance, Elias Wallenta and Joël Teasdale scored the goals that secured the win for VSV.
