The first Carinthian derby of the season takes place on Sunday. Clemens Unterweger of the EC-KAC is looking forward to the local duel against EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, also because the Klagenfurt team has won seven of the last ten meetings with VSV. The KAC have even won eight of the last ten derbies in front of their home crowd.

The current form also speaks in favor of the EC-KAC. Klagenfurt have started the season with two wins and two defeats. On Friday, however, they suffered a clear 0:4 defeat at Fehérvár. Villach, on the other hand, are still without points and suffered a 4:6 defeat in Graz on Friday. For KAC defenseman Clemens Unterweger, the loss in Hungary was just a minor setback and the team wants to make amends in the derby. “Nobody needs extra motivation for a derby. It's a home derby, we want to show our fans that we can do better than we did against Fehérvár on Friday and we also want to prove it to ourselves, because we know that we can do better. We will do everything we can to get a win.”

Despite Villach's current mixed form, the 32-year-old is expecting a strong opponent and a game at eye level: “A derby always has its own rules. Anything can happen in a derby. Villach will do everything they can to beat us. It will be a close and heated game. I expect a great atmosphere and a great game.”
