On Saturday four Alps Hockey League games went into overtime and three were decided after penalties. HC Pustertal kept their winning streak alive and also extended the lead at the top. While Asiago and Lustenau suffered shootout defeats, HK Olimpija Ljubljana won the Slovenian derby.
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice vs. HK SZ Olimpija 0:4 (0:2, 0:1, 0:1)

3.000 fans came to the arena to watch the Slovenian derby. Jesenice's new arrival Philippe Paradis made his debut and his team had some early chances but Olimpija goalie Zan Us did a good job. The first goal was scored at the other end when Ajaz Chvatal put Olimpija ahead. Soon later the visitors doubled the lead thanks to a power play goal from Kristjan Cepon. After the restart Jesenice had a good chance but Urban Sodja did not find the back of the net. Olimpija was more efficient once again when Gal Koren added another power play goal - 0:3. The guests controlled the game for the rest of the second. Jesenice came out hard for the third but a 2+2 penalty against Paradis stopped their offenisve rush. With ten minutes to go Miha Zajc made the game safe for a 4:0 road win. After six successive AHL derby defeats, Olimpija was the winner again and moved up to second place in the table.

The Hockey Milano Rossoblu won the second game of the season at the end of a great comeback. The forward Riley Brace played his first match in the red-blue lineup. The first penalty was already important: Diego Iori led the Falcons to the first goal. Milan answered with a lot of energy but they didn’t find winning actions. In the second Martin Gran left the penalty bench and then went to score (2:0). Then after 27 minutes, Diego Iori was still decisive. Coach Omicioli called time out and Milan started another game. First Simone Asinelli and then a nice shot by Maks Selan put the hosts back in the game. Then a nervous Fassa took some penalties. The Milan was faced with a good Hewitt but the same goalkeeper couldn’t anything on the shot of Riley Brace who drew the score in powerplay action. On the wings of enthusiasm, Milan closed the match with Guillame Doucet. Now the home team had 5 points more of Falcons.

The home side was very strong as they found the first goal with an impossible shot by Kyle Just. Immediate draw of the Polar Bears with a deflection of Christoph Herzog. Vallini saved the result but then the final time was all of the Broncos: McNally achieved the advantage with a personal action behind the net. The second began with a Broncos assault and three goals: Kofler (power shot), McNally (slapshot) and Just (speed action). Then the Zell am See shortened the distances with two goals in powerplay with Wilfan (validated after video) and Leblanc (rebound) but before the end of the second half Kruselberger realized the 6:3 on deflection. In the third Zell am See didn’t look at the scoreboard as they recovered the disadvantage with Herzog and the double by Scholz for a 6:6 pyrotechnic. The game ended in overtime when Just realized his hatrick and 7:6 for the Broncos.

Klagenfurt came out hard and were rewarded with an early lead as defender Wolfgang Puff opened the scoring in the 4th minute. The hosts missed the chance to extend it in a double power play with Pustertal taking over command after. The leaders wasted some good chances but late in the first Max Oberrauch got his side on the scoreboard. The second was a mere 24 seconds old when Oberrauch added a second to turn the game around. Pustertal kept going and made the preliminary decision, scoring three goals (Raphael Andergassen, Armin Hofer and Simon Berger) within 138 seconds. Gregor Grossgasteiner added another goal even before the second intermission for a 1:6 score. The hosts regrouped and played better in the third. With eight minutes to go Markus Gander, who had some good chances earlier, extended Pustertal's lead but the young home team kept fighting and Niklas Würschl rounded off the scoring - 2:7.

Salzburg took the early lead thanks to a power play goal from Daniel Wirt and the visitors halfway through the first when Maximilian Rebernig added a second. Bregenzerwald struggled in the first but after the restart Philipp Pöschmann got his team on the scoreboard. Now the home team put a lot of pressure on the Juniors and even turned the game around. Aleksi Järvinen's rebound and a hard shot from Jonas Kutzer made it 3:2. Joy was short-lived as Salzburg tied it only 54 seconds later thanks to a Carl Zimmermann goal. With no goals in the third the game went into overtime. In the extra session both focussed on their defense and because of this the shootout had to decide. Salzburg earned the bonus point with Oliver Nordberg netting on the deciding attempt.

The game in Lustenau was a mere 119 seconds old when David Frank opened the scoring. Only two minutes later Cortina's Francesco Adami scored the equalizer in a game with both teams being at eye level. Things did not change in the second. Despite having some good opportunities on both sides, it remained a tied score until 36th minute when Tommaso Alvera used a defensive mistake - 1:2. Early in the third Lustenau pressed hard and Martin Grabher-Meier tied it at two. In further consequence Lustenau came close to turn the game once again but Cortina prevented another goal against. With some seconds to go and Lustenau being shorthanded, Marc-Oliver Vallerand missed a penalty shot. After a goalless overtime Riccardo Lacedelli secured the bonus point for the Italians.

Rittner Buam vs. VEU Feldkirch 3:2 (2:0, 1:2, 0:0)

The Rittner Buam won the second consecutive match for the first time in this season. Andreas Lutz was always absent. In evidence the first line of the home team that made twice goal with Johan Eriksson and with the same assists of Simon Kostner and Olegs Sislannikovs. In the second half the VEU shortened the distance with Dylan Stanley but the Rittner Buam wasn’t intimidated as they made another goal with the young Philipp Pechlaner (first goal of the season). But still the Feldkirch was in the match with the Stefan Wiedmaier. In the third time the Renon closed the net with the saves of Thomas Tragust. This was the fifth consecutive victory of the Rittner Buam if we count the three games of the Continental Cup.

Asiago lost at home for the first time in the season and did not happen since November 15, 2017 against Wipptal. The Kitzbühel recovered three goals and then won on shutout for 4:3. In the first in great evidence Marco Rosa author of the only two goals of the period. In the first goal the forward received a puck from behind the net and in the second scored with a wrist shot. In the second Asiago made another goal in just 39 seconds (3:0) with a nice shot by Gellert. After a big fight, Kitzbühel scored the first powerplay goal but actually Cloutier played the puck and lost it with Patrick Bolterle's goal. In the third time the Austrians are not spared: first Marthinsen in powerplay and then Havlik, always with the extra man, tied the result. At the overtime neither team resolved the game. On the penalties Havlik was decisive for the victory of the Eagles.
