In the win2day Austrian Women's Hockey League, both games of the day were decided in overtime or shootout. In the Placement Round, the KSV Highlanders celebrated an important 2:1/OT home win against leaders Sabres St. Pölten, while in the Qualification Round the Graz99ers Huskies prevailed 4:3/SO against the DEC Salzburg Eagles. The Styrians thus took a big step towards the Final-4. In the European Women´s Hockey League neither team managed to decide the game in regulation time too.

In the third duel of the season between the KSV Highlanders and the Sabres St. Pölten, the home team prevailed for the third time. The Highlanders trailed 0:1 until three and a half minutes before the end of regulation time, before Sara Confidenti equalized in the powerplay. The Styrians scored also a powerplay goal in overtime. Hilde Huisman scored the decisive goal after 92 seconds. The Sabres remain top of the table with four points, while the Highlanders are now on two points and remain in third place. The Sabres are back in action tomorrow, Sunday. At home, they will host the second-placed Lakers Kärnten.

Graz defeats Salzburg in Qualification Round
In the Qualification Round, the Graz99ers Huskies celebrated a narrow 4:3 victory against the DEC Salzburg Eagles after a shootout. The Styrians were thus also able to win their second game of the qualifying round and are clearly leading the table with five points. The Eagles hold on to one point and are in second place. In an evenly-matched game, all six goals were scored in the first 39 minutes. Although the visitors from Salzburg initially took the lead, the Graz99ers then pulled away to 3:1. In the end, Simona Grascher converted the decisive penalty. The forward also shone with the goals to make it 1:1 and 3:1, scoring her second brace of the season. The two teams will meet again tomorrow, this time in Salzburg. With a win, the Graz99ers could secure first place in the table ahead of time and thus secure qualification for the Final-4.

EWHL: Shootout win for league leaders Bratislava
The European Women's Hockey League was also played on Saturday. In the top game, league leaders HK PSRZ Bratislava won 4:3/SO at MAC Budapest. The visitors from Slovakia were already 3:1 ahead after 35 minutes, but the Hungarians came back into the game. The team in fifth place in the table first reduced the deficit to 2:3 in the 52nd minute and even managed to equalize 40 seconds before the end of regular time. In the end, however, Bratislava prevailed in the shootout and now have a two-point lead over their closest rivals, the Sabres St. Pölten. In the second game, Budapest Jegkorong Akademia beat Tauron Metropolia Silesia 2:1/OT. The Hungarians were still trailing 0:1 until one and a half minutes before the end of regulation time.
