Logan Roe extends in Linz

Logan Roe was one of the big cornerstones of the Upper Austrian defense in the past championship. The 31-year-old US American was convincing in both powerplay- and shorthanded situations and led the Linz defense with Ramon Schnetzer and Martin Schumnig at his side. With an average of more than 20 minutes of ice time, Roe was on the ice more often than any other Linz player. With 32 points (8 goals), Roe was not only the Upper Austrian's top scoring defenseman, but also led the team's +/- statistics with +14.

Prior to his move to Linz last year, Roe spent the majority of his career thus far with the Florida Everblades in the East Coast Hockey League. In six years, he established himself as a reliable mainstay in North America's third-highest division, making over 400 appearances. As a major award, the veteran secured the title as top performer of the season in the 2017/18 season with a statistic of +43. In the 2019/20 season, the next highlight followed for the left-shooter: He was selected to the ECHL All-Star team and was named All-Star MVP after a convincing performance

After another three years as an assistant captain with the Everblades and several stints in the AHL for Springfield, Manitoba and Syracuse, Roe ventured to Europe for the first time two years ago. In his first stint, he recorded 17 points (4 goals and 13 assists) in 54 appearances for Västeras in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

Salzburg ties up four cracks of the championship team

Forwards Peter Hochkofler, Florian Baltram, Benjamin Nissner and Ali Wukovits will once again be scoring for the reigning champions in the win2day ICE Hockey League in the 2023/24 season. Peter Hochkofler came to the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy from South Tyrol 13 years ago and has steadily developed from there. Last season he completed the best season of his career in the scorer standings with 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists). Hochkofler has played on Salzburg's professional team since the 2015/16 season and has won the ICE Hockey League three times so far with the Red Bulls.

Florian Baltram came to Salzburg in 2015 as an 18-year-old and played the first three seasons in the ICE Hockey League as well as with the Red Bull Hockey Juniors in the Alps Hockey League. Since 2018, the now 26-year-old native of Vienna has been exclusively with the professional team and has celebrated three championship titles with the Red Bulls.

Benjamin Nissner came to Salzburg from the Vienna Capitals two years ago and quickly matured into one of the Red Bulls' top forwards. In the most recent season, he was always among Salzburg's top-3 players in the basic round and in the playoffs and scored 22 goals, which is also a personal record. With the Vienna Capitals, Nissner already won his first championship title in 2017, and now he has added two more to his collection with the Red Bulls. The 25-year-old is also a candidate for the Austrian national team for the 2023 World Championship in Finland.

With Ali Wukovits, another forward from Vienna plays successfully for the Red Bulls. The 26-year-old joined Salzburg in 2021 together with Benjamin Nissner and played a major role in winning the championship title last season with 28 scorer points. In addition to his scoring qualities, Wukovits also distinguished himself as an enormously team-serving player, providing a total of 22 assists.

Pioneers complete defense

Christian Bull extended his contract by one year after his playoff trip to his native Norway. Veteran Steven Birnstill and Ivan Korecky also remain with the Ländle team. Feldkirch youngster Mark Mussbacher completes the Pioneers defense and thus all squad spots in the defense of the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg 2023/24 are allocated.
