Convincing home wins for Zell am See and Kitzbühel | Ritten claim overtime derby victory

Fans of the Alps Hockey League were treated to an exciting 25th round on Thursday. Tim Coffman (EKZ), Reid Stefanson (HCM) and Marek Potsinok (HCU) all shone with hat tricks. EK Die Zeller Eisbären cruised to a clear 7–1 win over HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, HC Meran/o Pircher surprised HC Migross Asiago with a 5–2 road victory, and the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers also claimed a 5–2 win against HDD Jesenice. In addition, Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel celebrated a convincing 7–3 home win over EC Bregenzerwald. Rittner Buam SkyAlps edged the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 4–3 in overtime in the derby, while second-placed KHL Sisak suffered a narrow 2–3 shootout loss at home to S.G. Cortina Hafro.

Third-placed EK Die Zeller Eisbären recorded a dominant 7–1 home victory over HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in front of almost 2,000 fans. Tim Coffman led the way with a hat trick and two assists. Max Wilfan added a pair of goals, while Nick Huard impressed with one goal and five assists. For tenth-placed Gherdeina, it was their third straight defeat.

Kitzbühel rout Bregenzerwald
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel also scored seven goals in their 7–3 home win over EC Bregenzerwald. The fourth-placed side picked up three crucial points in the race for a top-five finish and now hold a seven-point cushion over the ECB. Klemens Krainz was the only Kitzbühel player to score twice, while Philipp Pöschmann netted two goals for the visitors. After the first period the score was tied at 1–1, but Kitzbühel pulled away to a 4–2 lead in the second period. An early goal in the final frame made it 5–2 and sealed the win. It was Kitzbühel’s first win after two consecutive losses, while Bregenzerwald suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games.

Overtime win for Ritten in the derby against Sterzing
Rittner Buam SkyAlps and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan delivered a thrilling derby, with Ritten eventually prevailing 4–3 in overtime. It marked the Buam’s fourth straight win, lifting them to sixth place, just one point behind fifth-placed Asiago. Sterzing remain ninth. The hosts led 2–0 after 25 minutes, but the Broncos tied the game by the 40-minute mark. The visitors even took the lead in the third period, before Ritten responded once more. Tobias Graf equalized three minutes before the end of regulation, and Patrick Madsen netted the game-winner just 76 seconds into overtime.

Cortina turn the game in Sisak
In front of 1,800 fans, KHL Sisak initially impressed with a strong start. Despite taking a 2–0 lead, the second-placed team eventually fell 2–3 in a shootout to S.G. Cortina Hafro. Sisak led by two goals after 16 minutes, but Cortina struck back in the 39th and 58th minutes. Oskari Kalajanniska scored the crucial equalizer for eighth-placed Cortina, who went on to secure the win in the shootout thanks to the decisive goal by Kris Pietroniro, extending their winning streak to four games.

Meran surprise Asiago – Reid Stefanson scores three
Twelfth-placed HC Meran/o Pircher pulled off a surprising 5–2 road win at fifth-placed HC Migross Asiago. It was only Meran’s eighth victory of the season in 23 games. In front of nearly 1,000 fans, Reid Stefanson opened the scoring in the 11th minute. The Canadian went on to score three of Meran’s five goals. Asiago equalized in the 33rd minute, but Meran surged ahead to a 4–1 lead by the 50th minute, handing the hosts their third consecutive home loss.

Marek Potsinok shines in Unterland home win
Bottom-of-the-table Hockey Unterland Cavaliers left no chance for defending champions HDD Jesenice, claiming a 5–2 home victory. It was only Unterland’s fifth win in 22 games, while Jesenice suffered their 15th loss of the season. For the South Tyrolean side, it was their first win after five consecutive defeats. Marek Potsinok was the standout performer with a hat trick, including the decisive goals to make it 3–1 and 4–1 midway through the second period.
