Cortina got off to a strong start on Wednesday, taking the lead in the eighth minute through Kris Pietroniro. Shortly after, De Zanna doubled the advantage to 2–0. In the middle period, EC Bregenzerwald found their rhythm and cut the deficit to 1–2 thanks to Hintermann — a score that stood heading into the final frame. The visitors restored their two-goal lead in the third, but the hosts struck again to make things interesting. In the end, Kris Pietroniro sealed the win for Cortina with two empty-net goals, completing his hat trick in the process.
