Less than 24 hours after their home victory over EC Bregenzerwald, Gardena was back in action—this time on the road in Cortina. The “Furies” started better and controlled much of the opening period, but the only goal came from the home side through Alverà. Early in the middle frame, Kris Pietroniro doubled the lead during a 5-on-3 power play. Gardena managed to cut the gap as the period went on, but Cortina quickly restored its two-goal cushion. In the final period, Moncada brought the visitors closer again, and in the 57th minute, Guimond evened the score. In overtime, it was the goal scorer who took a penalty—and Kalajanniska capitalized with a one-timer to clinch the win. The result also gave Cortina revenge for the clear defeat in the first matchup of the season.
