The second pre-playoff game between S.G. Cortina Hafro could not have been more exciting. After Cortina had already won on Saturday with only one goal, it even went into "endless Overtime" on Monday. Before it went into the "sudden death decision" Bregenzerwald could advance twice in the regular playing time. The guests from Cortina followed suit promptly in each case. In the final phase of regulation time, Cortina clearly took command and put Bregenzerwald goalie Felix Beck under massive fire. But Beck convinced with spectacular saves and brought his team into overtime. Even then, little changed in the control of the guests. But the Vorarlberg team, and especially goalkeeper Beck, fought back against the end of the season. Twice the bar prevented Cortina from scoring the winning goal in the first overtime. In the second overtime, which was also played in a "five-on-five" format, Remy Giftopoulos finally provided redemption for the visitors in the 83rd minute. In the history of the Alps Hockey League, only two games lasted longer: 2017/18 VEU-PUS (84th minute) and 2016/2017 PUS-COR (109th minute). S.G. Cortina Hafro thus became the fifth team to qualify for the quarterfinals after Ljubljana, Jesenice, Pustertal and Asiago.

More teams could follow already tomorrow, Tuesday, when the second game of the three other pre-playoff encounters will take place.
