The Red Bull Hockey Juniors had the momentum after the overtime win in game four and also had slight advantages at first on Saturday night. However, the home side could not capitalize on the only power play of the first period either, so it remained scoreless after the opening period. The decisive scenes happened after 27 minutes, when the Juniors conceded two penalties within ten seconds. Cortina lined up on the 5-on-3 power play and Mikael Saha scored to take the lead. The Italians continued to play in numerical superiority, but initially had no chances. After an individual mistake by the Salzburg defense, Diego Cuglietta ran alone on goal and kept his nerve - 0:2. With this two-goal lead, the guests also went into the second period break. The home side tried hard after the restart, but could not break the Cortina defense. Two minutes before the end, Juniors goalie Simon Wolf left the goal for another skater, but the home side did not create any more chances and lost their second home game in a row. This means that the Italians, for whom goalie Marco De Filippo recorded 36 saves, can move into the final on Tuesday.
