Release from 19.09.2021
On Saturday, five games in the Alps Hockey League were decided with only one goal difference. With a 2:0 win over the KAC Future Team, Hafro Cortina Hockey took over the lead from Klagenfurt. In addition, Steel Wings Linz, EC Bregenzerwald and EK Zeller Eisbären each celebrated their first wins of the season.
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice - SHC Fassa Falcons 8:2 (0:0,4:1,4:1)
After a goalless first period Fassa took the lead after only 16 seconds. But the home side not only turned the game around, they pulled away to 4:1 by the end of the period. The Slovenians continued to show their offensive strength and celebrated an 8:2 victory in which eight different players scored. Gasper Glavic and Luka Ulamec each had a goal and three assists. While Fassa is still waiting for their first point, Jesenice climbed up to second place.
HC Gherdeina valgardena.it - EK Die Zeller Eisbären 2:3 (1:1,0:1,1:1)
The Zeller Eisbären got their first win of the season at Gröden, who are still without points. The visitors started the first period with a lot of pressure and set the tone from the beginning. In the 17th minute Henrik Neubauer scored the well-deserved 1:0, but only 30 seconds later the hosts equalised. Akerman gave Zell am See the lead again in the middle period and Sinegubovs (44th) scored the decisive goal.
Red Bull Hockey Juniors - EHC Lustenau 4:3 OT (1:1,1:1,1:1,1:0)
The Red Bull Hockey Juniors won an even game against EHC Lustenau 4:3 after an overtime goal by Josef Eham in the 64th minute. Before that, the 19-year-old scored the equaliser four minutes before the end. Lustenau, now in third place, were in the lead twice but ultimately suffered their first defeat of the season.
Vienna Capitals Silver - Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan 3:6 (1:1,0:4,2:1)
Niklas Salo and Bryson Cianfrone were the match winners with two goals each in the Broncos' 6:3 away win at Vienna Capitals Silver. Although the Viennese took the lead after 16 minutes, the team from Sterzing promptly equalised. In the middle period, the guests pulled away to 1:5 and thus ensured the preliminary decision. The Broncos thus also won their second game of the season.
EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel - Rittner Buam 0:1 OT (0:0,0:0,0:1)
Third win for the Rittner Buam in the third game of the new championship. But just like two days ago in the South Tyrolean derby against HC Meran, the Blue-Reds had to play overtime at EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel on Saturday evening. MacGregor Sharp scored the 1:0 winning goal only 19 seconds before the end of overtime. The Tyroleans, on the other hand, suffered their first defeat.
HC Meran/o Pircher - Steel Wings Linz 3:4 (1:1,0:0,2:3)
Meran and the Steel Wings Linz delivered an exciting exchange of blows. The home side took the lead three times through Oscar resp. Victor Ahlström, but the Upper Austrians always managed to equalise. The visitors took the lead for the first time 14 seconds before the end through Manuel Feldbaumer and thus also got their first win of the season.
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey - EC Bregenzerwald 3:4 (1:1,1:1,1:2)
The biggest surprise of the matchday came from EC Bregenzerwald. The team from Vorarlberg won for the first time in their AHL history at Asiago. Although the Italians recorded twice as many shots (38:19), the guests were more efficient. After Marlon Tschofen made it 2:4, Asiago managed to score again, but it was not enough. While ECB celebrated their first win of the season, Asiago had to admit defeat for the first time.
S.G. Cortina Hafro - EC-KAC Future Team 2:0 (0:0,1:0,1:0)
Sensational league leaders EC-KAC Future Team challenged S.G. Cortina Hafro in the top match on Saturday. Before the game, the Italians were the first chaser of the Klagenfurt team. The first period at the Olympic Ice Stadium in Cortina ended goalless. In the 33rd minute, Luca Barnabó made use of an error to break free and scored the opening goal. The score remained 1:0 until the last minute, when Carlo Finucci scored an empty-netter to make it 2-0 - goalie Marco de Filippo Roja celebrated a shutout. Cortina thus also took over the lead in the standings.
