On Tuesday, Daniel Gellon scored the 4-3 game-winning goal for HC Meran/o Pircher, setting up today’s big showdown for a spot in the finals. “Everything that has happened so far in the series is reset to zero, and the small details will make the difference,” the 25-year-old forward said ahead of the decisive game at KHL Sisak. Here are more statements from the Italian player.

“First of all, we’re proud to have the chance to play in Game 7 of the semifinal series,” Gellon said, reflecting on the team’s performance so far. After all, Meran is only seeded seventh, had to go through the Pre-Playoffs against Bregenzerwald, and then knocked out Asiago in the quarterfinals.

Now, they aim for their first-ever finals appearance – but a win on the road in Sisak is required. A tough challenge, as the Ledena dvorana Zibel is expected to turn into a raucous arena once again. The Italians won the series opener in Sisak 4-2, but then suffered defeats of 3-10 and 3-4 in overtime. “But none of that matters now,” Gellon said. “Everything that has happened so far is reset to zero and won’t affect Game 7.”

“The small details will make the difference, and the team that wants it more will come out on top. We’re ready to give everything and leave it all on the ice,” the forward added.

Pure excitement is guaranteed for the semifinal showdown! Will the Alps Hockey League see its first-ever final with two South Tyrolean teams, or will Sisak become the first Croatian team to reach the finals? Tune in at 19:30 on www.valcome.tv to find out.
