Short text 732 CharactersPlain text

On Saturday evening all eight playoff participants of the Alps Hockey League will finally be determined. While Kitzbühel could already decide its Pre-Playoff duel against Fassa and became the sixth team to clinch a quarter-final ticket, there will be a deciding game in the other two duels. The EK Die Zeller Eisbären and the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan have home advantage against the EHC Lustenau and the EC Bregenzerwald respectively. Watch both games live on valcome.tv at 19:30.

The Playoff Pick will take place on Sunday. The top three of the Master Round will get to choose their quarterfinal opponent from the three winners of the Pre-Playoffs and the Hockey Unterland Cavaliers, who finished fifth in the Master Round.

Alps Hockey League | 04.03.2023 | "best-of-3" Pre-Playoffs:
Sat, 04.03.2023, 19:30: Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan - EC Bregenzerwald
Standings in the "best-of-3" series: 1:1
Referees: HOLZER, VIRTA, Mantovani, Rinker. | >> PPV-LIVESTREAM <<
The EC Bregenzerwald forced a deciding game in the Pre-Playoff series thanks to a 5:4/OT home win against the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. Man of the match was Latvian Roberts Lipsbergs with a total of three goals and one assist. The 28-year-old, who was named the Top Performer of the second matchday of the Pre-Playoffs, also scored the game-winner in the 66th minute of play. The ECB, who narrowly lost game one of the series 2:3, were already down 0:2 after 31 minutes. For Bregenzerwald, it was its first win of the season over the Broncos on Thursday. Should the Vorarlberg team also win Saturday's game, they would qualify for the Alps Hockey League playoffs for the first time ever. For Vipiteno, it would be their fourth playoff appearance overall.

Sat, 04.03.2023, 19:30: EK Die Zeller Eisbären - EHC Lustenau
Standings in the "best-of-3" series: 1:1
Referees: LEHNER, RUETZ, Eisl, Seewald J. | >> PPV-LIVESTREAM <<
With the EHC Lustenau, the second team from Vorarlberg was also able to even the series on Thursday. The EHC won clearly 4:1 at home against the EK Die Zeller Eisbären after they lost game one in Zell am See 1:4. Lustenau already had a 3:0 advantage after 38 minutes. In the fourth duel of the season, it was the second win for the team from Vorarlberg. A victory on Saturday in Pinzgau will certainly not be an easy task for Lustenau, however, as the Polar Bears have won five of their past six home games. With 1682 spectators on average, the EKZ can also count on a loud support. On the Zell am See side, captain Hubert Berger has been missing so far in this series, in addition to Cornelius Kaschnig, Bastian Szieber and Philipp Mair. Whether the captain will be back in the line-up on Saturday has not yet been determined.
