Two days after the brilliant 6:1 win against the Augsburg Panthers, the Moser Medical Graz99ers challenged another top DEL team, with the Cologne Sharks. The Styrians were beaten 2:4 by the eight-time German champions after a tough battle. Without Lukas Haudum, Manuel Ganahl, Kilian Zündel, Nico Brunner and Paul Huber, who are all with the national team, and Frank Hora, the 99ers conceded the first goal in the fourth minute of the test match in Kitzbühel. The “Sharks” added two more goals in the second period. It took until the 58th minute before the 99ers were able to score. New signing Marcus Vela reduced the deficit to 1:3, and just 81 seconds later another new signing, Nick Albano, scored to make it 2:3. Graz then risked everything again, took goalkeeper Nicolas Wieser off the ice and conceded an empty-net goal 17 seconds before the end of the game.
