Defeats for Austria and Hungary | OT success for Slovenia

Three of the four participating nations in the win2day ICE Hockey League played international matches on Saturday. While Austria was defeated 0:3 by the host nation in the Germany Cup, the host of the tournament in Hungary lost 1:2 after overtime against France. In the same tournament, Slovenia celebrated a 2-1 OT win over Ukraine on Saturday. Two ICE players got on the scoresheet that night.

After a 3-2 overtime win over Slovakia to open the tournament on Thursday, Austria's men's ice hockey national team lost to host Germany on Saturday at the 2022 Germany Cup in Krefeld. The host already led 2-0 after the first 20 minutes, with the final goal in the middle period coming from Danjo Leonhardt, just 20, who spent 2018-2021 training at the Red Bull Ice Hockey Academy in Salzburg and joined the EC Red Bull Salzburg championship team in 2021-22.

On Sunday, the Austrian national team will play the final match against Denmark. The match will be broadcast on ORF TV-Thek starting at 11:00 a.m. - ORF Sport + will join in live from around 12:15 p.m. onwards.

OT victory for Slovenia | OT defeat for Hungary

At the Sárközy Tamás Memorial Tournament in Hungary, the host suffered a narrow overtime defeat. Against France, Hydro Fehérvár AV 19-crack Istvan Terbocs shot the Hungarian national team into overtime, but there the Magyar Jégkorong team had to concede its second goal of the evening.

Slovenia, on the other hand, recorded their first win in their second game. In the clash against Ukraine, the Slovenians scored a 2-1 overtime win. After two scoreless periods, Rok Kapel of HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana put his team in the lead.
