The EC-KAC fills its fourth import spot in the roster for the upcoming season with Canadian defenceman Paul Postma. The 32-year-old came to Klagenfurt in December and took a dominant role in the KAC defence for weeks. The former NHL player, who played 205 games in the world's best league, also made an impressive impact offensively: In his 20 appearances he recorded no less than 22 points (eight goals, 14 assists), his average of 1.10 scoring points per game was the highest of a KAC defender since the 2000/01 season (Emanuel Viveiros, 1.24). Due to these impressive statistics, Postma was also voted into the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League's "Team of the Regular Season" by the fans. In the away game at Hydro Fehérvár AV19 in mid-February, however, the Canadian suffered a serious injury, and despite intensive work on his comeback, he ultimately missed all 21 further games of the season. Paul Postma has since recovered and returned to summer training at his home in Red Deer, Alberta, along with forward Matt Fraser.

"Last season was a wonderful experience: to be part of this team that was able to celebrate the great success at the end was something special. Unfortunately, I had to miss the playoffs due to injury, but I'm even more looking forward to being able to attack again in the autumn. It will be exciting to come back to Klagenfurt, to play with this KAC team and hopefully to be able to do so in front of full stands again," says the Canadian, looking optimistically to the future.
