Vienna wins spectacle against Innsbruck
The duel of the second versus the third best offensive team in the league kept its promise, as the spusu Vienna Capitals and HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie delivered a true spectacle. It took until the 19th minute when Sam Herr scored for the guests and opened the scoring on the power play. In the second period, Max Gerlach increased the lead, but Sascha Bauer - one of 17 Austrians in the Caps' line-up today - scored twice within 99 seconds to equalise the score. Before the second intermission, Braden Christoffer put the Innsbruck team back in front. In the 44th minute Taylor Vause equalised with a shorthander and five minutes before the end the Caps took the lead for the first time this evening: Ty Loney scored and drew level with Innsbruck's Daniel Ciampini at the top of the scoring list (both 18 goals). When Niki Hartl increased the lead to 5:3, the preliminary decision seemed to have been made. But Herr and Gerlach (5 seconds before the end) forced overtime with their last-minute goals. After the goalless overtime, Loney and Marco Richter converted their attempts in the shootout. With the third win of the season over the Sharks, Vienna climbed back up to third place in the standings. HCI's next game is tomorrow at Fehérvár.

Bulldogs get maximum points from road trip

Dornbirn came to Bratislava with a lot of self-confidence after a 3-0 win in Fehérvár the day before. The visitors again operated from a secure defense and also scored the only goal in the first period: Henrik Nilsson was successful after twelve minutes. In the middle period, the DEC set the course for victory with a brace within 82 seconds - Will Rapuzzi and Emilio Romig made it 3:0. The Slovaks could not fight back decisively. After a Yogan pass found its way to Nikita Jevpalovs (52nd) for the 4-0 lead, the Capitals were able to make up for it with a consolation goal by Adam Lapsansky (53rd). Daniel Woger put the lid on the game with an empty netter for a 5:1 away win. The sixth-placed Bulldogs also won the third duel of the season with the league newcomers.
