EC Bregenzerwald sign Alexander Schmidt

With Alexander Schmidt, the EC Bregenzerwald has presented its new goalie for the upcoming season in the Alps Hockey League – furthermore the Vorarlberg team announced two more squad decisions. We have summarized all other roster updates of the last week here.

Alexander Schmidt will be the new starting goalie of EC Bregenzerwald in the upcoming season. Already in the 18-19 campaign, the 23-year-old, who was recently also part of the extended squad of the Austrian National Team, played for the "Wälder" on a loan basis. Until last, he was under contract with EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV, but already completed AHL games for Kitzbühel and Zell am See. The Vorarlberg team has also signed defender Marcel Wohlmuth (Töreboda HF) and forward Rupert Fichtinger (KSV Kängurus).



Szabad extends in Kitzbühel
EC Die Adler Kitzbühel has extended the contract with Kevin Szabad, as the forward came to the Tyrolean team at the beginning of the past campaign and collected five goals and eight assists in 44 games.

Lahoda back in Zell am See
EK Die Zeller Eisbären has brought back Alexander Lahoda. The 26-year-old learned to play hockey at the traditional Salzburg club before he matured into an ICE player via the Red Bull Academy. There he played in Salzburg, Villach and most recently Linz - 215 games in total (17G|23A). In parallel, Henrik Neubauer, after a strong World Championship in the top division, left the Zellers and moved to Västerviks IK. Jesper Akerman has also left the "Eisbären" too.

Contract extensions in Linz and Sterzing
Alexander Moser will continue to defend for the Steinbach Steel Wings Linz next season, with the 22-year-old native of Carinthia entering his second season in Upper Austria. In the past campaign, he handed out six assists in 31 games. In total, he has already played 138 AHL games (4G|25A). Meanwhile, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan extended the contracts with local defender Alexander Brunner and Johannes Gschnitzer. The team from Sterzing also signed Canadian forward Adam Capannelli: The 24-year-old center comes from IHL club Toblach, where he averaged 2.3 points per game (22G|42A).

Departures at three AHL teams
Three teams of the Alps Hockey League have had to accept departures in the past week: Goalie Marco De Filippo left vice-champion S.G. Cortina Hafro for Asiago after six seasons, meanwhile HC Meran/o parted ways with their goalie Frederic Cloutier. But the "Falcons” got Canadian reinforcements, as the 21-year-old forwards Nolan Ritchie and Calder Anderson start their European careers with the South Tyroleans. Maximilian Sölva and Erwin De Nardin have left the HC Unterland Cavaliers.

Celje takes part in Continental Cup
AHL newcomer HK RST-Pellet Celje will participate in the IIHF Continental Cup next season. The Slovenians enter in the second round: From October 13th to 15th, they will fight for advancement in Latvia against host HK Zemgale, CMS Corona Brasov (ROU) and an up-and-comer. The international format includes four levels of competition. The winner gets a ticket for the Champions Hockey League season 24/25. To be prepared for the comparison and the new AHL season, the Slovenians recently signed Jasa Jenko from Jesenice (8G|11A)
