Short text 621 CharactersPlain text

While the EC-KAC could solve the fifth quarterfinal ticket of the win2day ICE Hockey League on their own by a clear success on Tuesday, the match-free spusu Vienna Capitals can also be happy about the fixed playoff participation. Due to the OT defeat of Steinbach Black Wings Linz, the Viennese can no longer be caught in the remaining two match days. Hydro Fehérvár AV19 earned the chance for a direct showdown for the first pick right for the pre-playoffs by defeating the Upper Austrians. EC Red Bull Salzburg kept their chances of winning the regular season intact with a commanding win over HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana.

KAC in the quarter-finals

The EC-KAC clinched the quarterfinal ticket in the win2day ICE Hockey League with a 5-0 win over the BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg, who were weakened by a lack of players. The Klagenfurt team was clearly superior from the beginning and scored a lot of goals. The goal festival on Shrove Tuesday was opened by Thomas Vallant in the fifth minute. A short time later, Matt Fraser added a goal with a remarkable tip. Until 5-0 in the 27th minute, the KAC maintained their five-minute scoring average. The home side subsequently dropped down a few gears on offense, but held the zero. Goalkeeper Sebastian Dahm celebrated his third shutout of the season.

Salzburg keeps within striking distance of the leaders

EC Red Bull Salzburg didn't let anything go in their duel against HK SZ Olimpija and keeps themselves within striking distance of leader HCB Südtirol Alperia with a 4:1 win. Two rounds before the end, the gap is four points - the Red Bulls are therefore dependent on support on Friday if they want a real showdown against the South Tyroleans in the last game of the Regular Season. The Red Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the first period with goals from Peter Schneider and Dominique Heinrich. Olimpija managed to tie it up in the middle period, but could no longer seriously threaten Salzburg's victory. Salzburg finally prevailed 4:1. For the Red Bulls, only red-white-red players were on the scoresheet.

Fehérvár dashes last hopes of direct playoff qualification of Linz

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 earned a 3-2 overtime victory over Steinbach Black Wings Linz in Tuesday's home game. While the Hungarians are now on the heels of the Linzers and could even win the right to pick for the pre-playoffs, the Steinbach Black Wings Linz have to bury their hopes for a direct quarter-final qualification after their sixth defeat in a row. After a goalless starting third, Timothy Campbell fired the hosts into the lead. With their backs against the wall, the Black Wings showed a strong reaction in the final period and went in front with a brace until the 54th minute. But the answer of the hosts followed quickly: Defender Dakota Donaghey shot his team into overtime. There Gleason Fournier managed the game-winning goal. Sunday will see a new edition of this duel, which could lead to a direct showdown for the right to pick for the pre-playoffs.
