EC-KAC had to do without eleven players in the CHL round of 16 second leg due to injuries - and looked very unsettled, especially in the first 15 minutes. Leksands IF played at a very high tempo and dictated the game, as the Swedes took the lead after 94 seconds through Isak Rosen. By the 13th minute they led 3:0, both penalties against Klagenfurt were answered by the SHL team with powerplay goals.

Also in the middle period - after Manuel Ganahl missed a great opportunity about halfway through the game - the 32-time Austrian champions weakened themselves with penalties and conceded two more goals while shorthanded. In the final period, the ICE champions bounced back with Lukas Haudum scoring after a rebound. But the Swedish team continued and added three more goals and advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions Hockey League.
