The Carinthian side previously competed in the multinational league from 2016 to 2024. EC-KAC has now decided to once again enter a team in the Alps Hockey League. The Future Team’s roster for the 2026/27 season will largely mirror that of the successful U20 squad from last season.

Johannes Schwaiger, President of EC-KAC: “In renewing our AHL commitment, we are incorporating the lessons learned from our eight years of participation in this competition. In the past, the Future Team helped develop numerous players who later went on to pursue professional careers. Our new approach also aims to ensure that our talents learn how to become leaders, for example by taking responsibility in key game situations or on special teams.”

Michael Suttnig, Commissioner of the Alps Hockey League: “We are very pleased that the EC-KAC Future Team is once again part of the Alps Hockey League. This step will further support the development of young players. Since its founding, the league has provided talents with a valuable platform to gain important experience in senior ice hockey.”
