EC-KAC won the first Carinthian derby of the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League season 2021/22 against EC GRAND Immo VSV with 4-0. HC Pustertal did not concede a goal too in a 4-0 win in Dornbirn, celebrating its first league shutout. At the same time, HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie also triumphed in the third duel of the season with league leader Ljubljana, while the Moser Medical Graz99ers made everything clear in the final period in Székesfehérvár. EC Red Bull Salzburg and HCB Südtirol Alperia grabbed home victories.
In the first Carinthian derby of the 21/22 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, EC-KAC celebrated a 4-0 road win at EC GRAND Immo VSV, neutralizing the league's best offense. It was the 26th ICE shutout for goalie Sebastian Dahm, who stopped 22 shots on goal. Klagenfurt benefited from an early lead, as Manuel Geier (3.) converted the rebound after a Haudum shot. From then on, the "Rotjacken" were more efficient in a game with few chances on both sides: Geier (22.), Bischofberger (36.) on his comeback after a month-long injury break and Manuel Ganahl (45.) provided the goals.
HC Pustertal Wölfe also remained without conceding a goal in the 26th round. The South Tyrolean team won 4:0 at the still decimated Dornbirn Bulldogs and celebrated their first shutout in their 25th league game. Goalie Tomas Sholl stopped all 22 shots on goal. Max Gerlach scored after just 75 seconds for the "Wolves", who picked up their second win in a row, and he then added another goal (48th) for his second brace of the current season. Dornbirn suffered its eighth consecutive defeat at home.
Innsbruck remains unbeaten against Ljubljana
HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie won also the third duel of the season with HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, winning 3-2 at the ICE leader. Strong first nine minutes in the middle period – with goals from McGauley, Lattner and Dostie (PP1) – paved the way for the "Haie" to their second win in a row and brought them back to third place in the table. The Slovenians suffered their second home defeat in a row.
Also without points on home ice was Hydro Fehérvár AV19, which lost 2:6 to the Moser Medical Graz99ers. Kevin Constantine's team always had the right answer to the first two goals of the Styrians, but Graz finally put the lid on it in the final period with a Zusevics brace and a goal by Andrew Gordon and won again after four defeats in Székesfehérvár. Simon Hjalmarsson, who gave Graz the lead for the first time after 137 seconds, scored for the fourth consecutive game.
Salzburg and Bolzano eke out home wins
EC Red Bull Salzburg and HCB Südtirol Alperia both earned home wins on Friday. The "Red Bulls" edged HC TESLA Orli Znojmo 5-3 to take a point in their eighth consecutive league game. Top scorer TJ Brennan got the Salzburg side on track, Ty Loney scored twice. Young talent Michal Kvasnica scored two goals for the Czechs.
HCB Südtirol Alperia destroyed the four-game winning streak of the spusu Vienna Capitals and also took revenge for the narrow defeat a week ago with the 7-4 home win. For their part, the "Foxes" are unbeaten for three games. An early Halmo goal after 63 seconds gave the South Tyroleans a good start. They managed to do the same into the second period, where they pulled away with three goals in the first ten minutes to make it 4-1. The advantage was then defended hard until the end. Daniel Ciampini scored also in the second game for Bozen.
