Caps try to get another record in semifinal 3 against Bozen
UPC Vienna Capitals are not to stop in this Playoffs! The Austrians won on Friday also their sixth Playoff-game 2016/17 at Bozen after 86 minutes 3:2. As well started so far just HCB Südtirol Alperia in the 2013/14-season! In those days the Foxes then also won the title. Already on Sunday follows now semifinals game 3 at Vienna/Kagran. With another win Jonathan Ferland and Co. could get already four matchpoints and another record: So far in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga no club won the first seven Playoff games. At home the team of Serge Aubin played strong lately, was successful in the last seven home-games and got a score of 29:10-goals. Besides the Austrians won their last six home-games against Bozen. „We must play like we did in the Overtimes at Bozen: We must play faster and attack and defend all together!“, demands Caps Forward Rafael Rotter. HCB Südtirol Alperia is already under pressure on Sunday at Vienna. The Foxes lost Semifinal two at home 2:3 after Overtime and are back in the series now 0:2. Not a complete new situation for HCB Südtirol Alperia: Last season in the Quarterfinale the Italians were back also 0:2 vs. EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz and then tied the series with two games in a row. On Sunday the Italians now travel to Vienna. There Bozen needs their first win at Vienna since October 5th 2015 or 526 days. Since that day the Foxes lost at Kagran six times in a row. To get into the Finals Bozen needs now four wins from the last five semifinals, twice they must win in the Austrian Capital. HCB Head Coach Tom Pokel knows, how it can work: „We must take advantage from our chances against a good team like Vienna!“ And Markus Gander added: „We will fight for this win at Vienna!“
In Vienna is welcomed on Sunday the 1.000.000th fan of this Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season. So far 996.486 fans watched the 346 EBEL-games in the arenas.

Third round in the Semifinal duel Salzburg vs. Klagenfurt
The Semifinals duel EC Red Bull Salzburg vs. EC-KAC returns to the Mozart City on Sunday. The Champion could get four matchpucks already. The Mozart Citizens were the last team, that could get four matchpoints in the Semifinals in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga in 2014/15-season. Also in those days their opponent was KAC. In the first two semis Matthias Trattnig and Co. beat the Red Jackets with 4:1. Both times Salzburg had a great start and got an early lead. On Sunday the Red Bulls built their hopes on their home strength: The Champion was successful in the last five home-games and got a score from 23:5-goals. „We continued to play good after the 2:0-lead at Klagenfurt and our defense and goalie Starkbaum were strong. Klagenfurt will fight even more on Sunday, but we are strong at home and we will play again with much energy and concentration“, reported Salzburg Forward Raphael Herburger. EC-KAC is already under pressure on Sunday at Salzburg. After loosing twice 1:4 against the Red Bulls the Carinthians are back in the best of seven series with 0:2. The Carinthians biggest problem so far was their scoring-efficience: Klagenfurt took already 68 shots on goal in 120 minutes, but scored just twice. Salzburg on the other side was successful eight times from just 58 shots. „We must play simple, we need more speed to the net and goals“, knows KAC defenseman Christoph Duller. And take attention: Also last season the Carinthians were back in the Playoffs against EC Red Bull Salzburg 0:2 in the Quarterfinals and then they won game 3 at the Mozart City. Besides the Red Jackets were the last team, that could leave the Mozart City as the winner in the middle of February this year. Jamie Lundmark will miss the game. The EC-KAC Forward was suspended by DOPS for one game, because of Slashing (verdict).
