Ethan Szypula of the Rittner Buam SkyAlps achieved something historic on Saturday. The 28-year-old Canadian is the first player to reach the 100-point mark in a single Alps Hockey League season. Despite this impressive record, however, Szypula's joy is likely to be dampened: The South Tyroleans lost despite a temporary 3:1 lead to SIJ Acroni Jesenice 3:4 after overtime. This leaves Ritten trailing 0:3 in the semi-final series and facing elimination.

The 28-year-old Ethan Szypula is currently in his second season with the Rittner Buam SkyAlps. Having already collected 67 scoring points last season, the forward has made history this season.
With his goal to make it 3:1 against Jesenice on Saturday, the Canadian reached the mark of 100 points in a single Alps Hockey League season - a historic milestone. He had already recorded his 99th point with the primary assist at 1:1. In total, Szypula has 26 goals and 74 assists.

The previous points record was held by Matt Wilkins, who scored 89 points for HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the 2019/20 season. Back then, the season was canceled after the Intermediate Round due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
